Situated on the boundary of the Volcanoes National Park, Singita Kwitonda Lodge is a mass sized area of 178 acres covered in forests, mountains, wetlands and lush meadows. It bears extended views of forest national parks, Virunga Volcano mountains.
It is bordered by Lake Kivu in the South, Lake Edward in the north and the Kigali International Airport. It has a welcoming and warm atmosphere for the guests who come by through the grand hospitality gestures and features.
It is quite an enticing place with special amenities and because of this guest flood the lodge to enjoy the different activities offered by the park but also to enjoy the ambiance of the park.
The place was designed by local artists with an infused blend of modern style and tradition, submerged in handmade tiles, river stones and clay bricks made using an oven.

Singita Kwitonda Lodge accommodation offers are;
- Two-bedroom suite accommodating four members contains two bedrooms, indoor showers and tubs both indoor and outdoor, dressing rooms, mini bar, private heated plunge pool, indoor massage rooms, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, spacious sitting area and Deck (Veranda)
- Kataza House, a 4-bedroom Villa that accommodates 8 members contains indoor showers and tubs, fitness centre, small wine cellar, cinema room, massage treatment room, heated plunge pool, fireplaces, dining and living areas, kitchen area, spacious Veranda

Along the accommodation facilities offered by the Lodge are also the amenities offered at the Lodge some of which include;
Singita Boutique and gallery store, conservation room, WiFi throughout the lodge, converters made available incase of power outage but also availed for hairdryers supplied in each room, gear room, an onsite Nursery Garden (Akarabo), private outdoor plunge pools, indoor massage treatments, services for children of all ages, wine cellars.
Payments for the accommodation can be made using visa and master cards and cash. The Rwanda currency and the US dollar are the official monetary forms allowed at the park, Value included taxes are included on all purchases and payments done at the lodge.
The amenities, gorilla trekking permits, golden monkey trekking and other activities are subject to change and are charged separately from accommodation rates.
Things To Do When at Singita Kwitonda Luxury Lodge:
Gorilla and Golden Monkey trekking.
Guests most of the times who visit or stay at Singita Kwitonda Lodge often times are expectant of the gorilla trekking experience. It is always a great moment for visitors to encounter these animals.
Singita is a known habitat of over 350 mountain gorillas among other species and the experience of being watching some of these animals is always thrilling and worth it to the guest.
The lodge put in place trekking offers that allow children to go for trekking. Only children that are 15 years of age and above are allowed to trekk and for safety and security reasons they don’t trekk in high altitudes of the mountains or regions chosen.
And there are some appropriate clothing you need to wear as you go trekking like boots for hikes, raincoats, long and short sleeved clothes, comfortable walking shoes and hats to guard you against the sun.
Wine Experience.
Singita Wine tasting experience includes showcasing new wines from the continent and also the experience offers a unique personalized experience to the guests who are wine lovers.
Singita Kwitonda Lodge has wine classes to all young wine lovers to nurture them into sommeliers for the lodge and country.
Cooking Classes.
Guests can enjoy to dive into the beautiful cuisine culture of Rwanda by being part of cooking classes as a leisure activity of the park.
The experience is open to both children and adults and there is always supervision by the head chef or teachers of the class for about 2hours.
Akarabo Nursery.
The garden is a natural habitat to a number of various plant species some herbs, vegetables, teas and even trees.
Some of the harvests of this garden are used in singita lodge kitchens in showcasing the beauty of Rwanda cuisines and passion for empowering communities.
The gardening experience at Akarabo nursery is growing and grown into a lasting part of the lodge joining the communities around the Lodge through the local farmers who carry and cater to the garden’s seedlings and plants and empowering conservation.
Singita Community Culinary School.
Singita Community Culinary School teaches guests from the lodge Culinary lessons of different cuisines.
There is always a donation made of $100 from every guest and these funds are invested in supporting the growth of the Culinary School as a part of the lodge.
Community Tour.
Guests at Singita who are not able to be part trekking and other activities have an option of visiting the communities around the lodge and Volcano Park.
Villages like Gasura and Kinigi which are 30-minute walks from the lodge. This tour usually takes about 3 hours and offers the full Rwandan experiences.
The tours start early morning from 9am-3pm and a headed by tour guides who know the community history, backgrounds and cultures. Guests are not allowed to walk through these places by themselves without any guides.
Walking & Running Trail.
The nature walks and runs are a way for the walkers to experience more of what the lodge offers land reconnect with nature. The best time to schedule the walks is during the dry season, period of June to September and again December to February.
Walkers are always advised on how handle themselves on the different trails to avoid any accidents since these trails are open to all population both guests and locals and animals so caution is always emphasized but walks around the lodge and parts of the park are always satisfying an experience.
How To Get To Singita Kwitonda Lodge?
There are always connecting flights to Rwanda or straight to Singita Kwitonda Lodge at an extra fee from Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya and South-Africa which makes traveling by flight quite easy and fast, though the flight fees are quite expensive. The Lodge is a 25-minute ride from Kigali.
If you your flight is an international flight then Afrik-Trek Holidays will offer you a driver guide to drive you to the lodge and any other destinations the guest prefers. These drives are always a beautiful scenery of the city though abit bumpy because of the hilly landscapes.
