2 Day Gorilla Trek Rwanda Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival, Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park;
Upon arriving in Rwanda, our driver/guide will meet you, brief you about the 2 Day Gorilla Trek Rwanda safari and then take you on a Kigali City Tour to discover so much in this beautiful city.
You will visit the local craft shops, the national museum, the Kigali genocide museum where you will be told so much about the 1994 museum, see photographs of the survivors and the victims and much more.
Proceed for lunch and then right after lunch, embark on a road trip to Volcanoes National Park situated in the north west part of the country. Enjoy a scenic drive of the rolling hills and valleys. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel for dinner and then rest.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Departure to Kigali;
Wakes up excited because today is when you will get to see man’s closest relative – mountain gorillas right in their natural habitat.
After an early morning breakfast, our driver/guide will pick you from your hotel and transfer you to the park headquarters in Kiningi for briefing on the guidelines you need to follow during and while close to the mountain gorillas.
An armed ranger and guide will then lead you into the dense rainforest to search for the location of these endangered species. Gorilla trekking takes between 3hrs-8hrs depending on the location of these massive creatures.
Mountain Gorillas usually move from place to place to search for food and when they feel like their safety is being threatened. Upon spotting gorillas, you are allowed to observe, study and take as many photos of these species as they roam freely in the national park, feed and play for time of up to 1 hour.
Once it elapses, you will be led back to the park headquarters where our guide/driver will pick you and take you to your hotel for lunch, check out and then embark on a trip back to Kigali.
Upon arrival, our driver/guide will take you directly to Kigali International Airport to catch your next flight back home or to any hotel of your choice within the city. This will mark the end of your 2 day gorilla trek Rwanda safari.

Quick Facts About Volcanoes National Park;
Volcanoes is situated in the north western part of Rwanda within the Virunga Conservation area and borders Uganda’ Mgahinga National Park and Virunga National Park in the Democratic republic of Congo.
The park covers an area of 160 square kilometers and while here you will not only have a look at the mountain gorillas but also the scenic views of the five volcanic mountains found within the park that include; Mount Bisoke, Mount Karisimbi, Mount Gahinga, Mount Muhavura and Mount Sabyinyo.
The park also was popularly known to have been the research site of American primatologist, Dian Fossey who played a crucial role in research, conservation and protection of mountain gorillas before she was murdered within the park by unknown people.
Fossey was buried at the former research centre she founded near her gorilla friend. Also within Volcanoes National Park, you will be able to spot other wildlife species like the forest elephants, several species of birds, butterflies, golden monkeys and so much more.
A gorilla permit in Rwanda costs only $1,500 and this can be purchased from the Rwanda Development Board.
